Home buyer Education Class Descriptions

Are you interested in learning more about buying a home? Join us for one of our upcoming classes. Let us arm you with the information needed to get you from becoming mortgage ready to closing on your home purchase. We also offer individual financial and credit counseling sessions to participants completing a class. These sessions are designed to help you determine if home ownership is right for you, and can move you from renting to buying your first home.

FINANCIAL FITNESS FRIDAY WORKSHOP (all are welcome to join in)

This workshop covers budgeting and saving as well as promoting financial independence. Participants will be introduced to ESUSU, a savings app that helps build or improve credit score while saving. ALICE and Project Stable initiatives will also be discussed. There will be the opportunity to join an ESUSU group at the end of class. The workshop is being presented by Primerica and is opened to all interested individuals. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED

First Time Homeowner/Pre-Purchase Online Class

Provides in depth instruction on the steps to home ownership to anyone interested in buying their first home. This class is mandatory to CHFA loan applicants under the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Home-ownership Program, and a requirement for down-payment assistance programs. Class participants are offered individual financial and credit upon completion of class. 

This is a 2 part class. Participants must attend both sessions to receive their certificate of completion.

Part 1: May 29 - 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm 

Part 2: May 30 - 10:00 am to 1:00 pm



Landlord Education Class

The Landlord Education Class provides an overview on the range of financial and practical topics that a home buyer should understand prior to purchasing a 2-4 family home. Owning a multi-family home, is running a small business. This class provides participants with useful tools and knowledge every landlord should know to be successful.

Financial Fitness Class

This three-hour course covers the importance of managing money and understanding credit to help you avoid financial pitfalls. Participants will get an overview of the practical steps of financial services, savings and budget planning. In addition, they will learn how to effectively monitor, build and maintain their credit history. Class is open to any interested individuals.

Pre-Closing Education Class- 3 Hour Class

Provides an overview of the financial and practical steps involved in buying and maintaining a home. This class is offered to CHFA loan applicants  under the Down payment Assistance Program, the Home ownership Program and the Home of Your Own Loan Program. It's also offered to Habitat for Humanity applicants. Applicants need to be referred by their lender or mortgage provider.
