Adrienne W. Cochrane, J.D.

As the former Chief Program Officer for the Urban League of Broward County, Cochrane supervised 48 staff with an eye for excellence to assure that Urban League programs and initiatives were carried out with the utmost integrity. Prior to assuming that position in August 2007, she was the Vice President and Chief Operations Officer for Quad County Urban League located in the western Chicago (Illinois) suburb of Aurora.

Cochrane is a highly regarded, results oriented leader with extensive experience in program design, development and implementation as well as fund development, budgeting and community building. She possesses a natural ability to team build and motivate high performance.

In 1998, her strong advocacy skills, coupled with an intensive desire to help those who were not positioned to help themselves, brought her to the attention of the City of St. Louis Family Violence Council who was conducting a nationwide search for its first Executive Director.

As the sole resource developer, Cochrane increased Council funding from $40,000 to $2.2 million in diverse revenue during her five year tenure. In addition, Cochrane brought over 35 community agencies, service providers, government entities and other key stakeholders together in a collaborative network with one common goal: the eradication of the insidious disease of domestic violence. She is known as a hands on manager with proven effectiveness in developing cooperative relationships and working with diverse systems.

Cochrane earned both Bachelor and Masters Degrees from Tuskegee University in Political Science and Counseling, respectively. She received a Juris Doctorate (Doctor of Law) from Saint Louis University School of Law, St. Louis, MO. While in law school, Cochrane interned in the University of Housing Legal Clinic where she labored tirelessly to hold absentee and otherwise disinterested landlords accountable and provided legal counsel to low-income, inner city residents as part of a multi-disciplinary collaborative. She brings over fifteen years of non-profit social services experience to her current position.
