The College Achievement Program (CAP) provides students and their parents in our after school program at Weaver High School and our GED/Adult Basic Education Center  with college transition services, case management, and tutoring to increase the number of low income, minority students who attend and to succeed in college.  We provide college counseling, assistance with the admissions, financial aid, and scholarship application processes, Accuplacer tutoring, college visits, on site college fairs, and an incentive award program to encourage students to apply to college.  We also provide study skills, time management, and financial literacy training classes, to assist the students to enter credit bearing courses upon entry into college and to remain in college until the completion of a degree.

Project Ready, College Access Program

The National Urban League’s Project Ready College Access Curriculum is a unique program designed for 9th and 10th graders to address the academic, personal and social needs of our youth.  This curriculum goes beyond a traditional college preparation program. It works on developing and strengthening the student’s skills toward higher learning and personal growth.
The curriculum is comprised of three components:

  • Academic
  • Social Development
  • Cultural / Global Awareness

In order to achieve the skill-building the curriculum includes a fun approach to learning on how the classes are taught, trips and student building activities.
