Hartford Center for Young Working Families
The Center for Young Working Families program (CYWF) is a localized prototype of Annie E. Casey Foundation’s concept to help families find successful, living wage employment, enhance earnings and grow assets. The CYWF provides a supportive and resource-rich environment where families will gain access to workforce services, income supports, financial and asset-building services, community connections, and other credible and high-quality services from partner organizations that are trusted in the community.
Goal and Mission: The Hartford Center for Yong Working Families seeks to work with families to achieve the following core goals:
- Promoting Employment and Earnings
- Enhancing Earnings
- Protecting and Growing Earnings into assets
Description of Life Coach
Life coaching is a practice of helping clients determine and achieve personal goals. Coaching is an action-oriented partnership that concentrates on where you are today and how to reach your goals.
Employment Life Coach
The Employment Life Coach assists eligible families to reach their own goals for self sufficiency and economic success, focusing on linking individuals with opportunities for educational and occupational skills training and providing assistance in employability skills and job placement. The Employment Life Coach also keeps track of benchmarks and makes sure that participants receive services they need to overcome barriers to family self sufficiency.
Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for the CYWF are as follows:
- Adult parent age 18 to 35 who lives within the Frog Hollow or Upper Albany area at time of enrollment
- Interview will determine program compatibility
Eligibility prospect CYWF is verified after the Life Coach receives the following documentation.
- Birth Certificate
- Proof of address (to verity residency within eligible areas)
- Picture ID
- Social Security Number
