Read and Rise, created by the National Urban League as part of the campaign for African American Achievement, helps families and communities support reading and literacy development to help close the achievement gap in children's literacy. The program teaches parents and caregivers methods of conducting literacy and pre-reading activities with their children, and provides free Scholastic books and magazines to children in the community.
