The priorities established
by the Board of Directors of the Urban League of Greater Hartford will guide
the League's approach to those we serve. Many of our customers face multiple
barriers to self-sufficiency. To meet this need, each department -Community
Health, Education, Youth and Family Services, Housing, and Employment and
Training - will work together to address these priorities and provide the
best customer service possible in a comprehensive, coordinated fashion.
Our intake and tracking system will allow us to better coordinate services
and track outcomes.
Our "bottom line" is self-sufficiency and family economic success
for all our customers. For example, a child in our youth program will receive
after school academic enrichment and tutoring, and their parents will be
offered the totality of Urban League services as needed. These can include
health education and support services, first time home ownership counseling,
adult education, employability skills training, computer training, financial
education and parenting/communication skills training.
We recognize that families are part of the community. We will work with
families and our public and private partners to eliminate educational, economic,
and health disparities in our community. |
