The Hartford Youth Project (HYP) is a substance abuse program for adolescents ages 10-17. Clinicians, Engagement Specialists, and the family of the youth work together with the youth to resolve issues pertaining to substance abuse and other related matters. Whether it pertains to communication issues inside the home or employment problems, the Clinicians and Engagement Specialists work step by step with the youth to successful conclusion. The treatment models used are Motivational Enhancement Therapy/Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MET/CBT), Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST), and Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT). There are also workshops available that meet once a week that focus on substance abuse and individual decision making.
The high level of dedication, understanding, and commitment from the Clinicians and Engagement Specialists has made this program a success.
