We provide direct service programs to ensure our youth complete high school, and become thriving young people eager to find success in the next chapter of their bright lives by providing guidance, skill-building, mentorship, and opportunities to develop academically, professionally, and personally.
After School Programs
Dedicated Urban League staff and volunteers offer engaging after school programs for students in local Hartford Public Schools, like Hartford Public High, Bulkeley and Weaver, as well as on-site at the Urban League for students throughout the region. Our programs provide academic support, enrichment activities, and safe, structured spaces where students can build skills, explore interests, and grow socially and emotionally. By combining learning with fun and meaningful connections, we help youth thrive academically.
Scholarships
Thanks to the generous donations of our corporate allies and philanthropic community partners, the Urban League of Greater Hartford is able to provide critical support to program partners as they prepare for college, career, and life beyond graduation. In 2025, over $25,000 in scholarships was awarded to our Scholars, recognizing their academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to community service.
Exclusive to Greater Hartford, ROCS extends our Project Ready Scholars program to ensure college students are Ready for Opportunities and College Success by offering support to navigate campus life, build leadership skills, and stay on track toward graduation, whether their path includes a gap year, work experience, or additional academic assistance.

Youth Leadership Summit
The Urban League of Greater Hartford proudly sends a delegation of Project Ready Scholars to the National Urban League annual Youth Leadership Summit, which brings together high schoolers from across the country for intensive workshops, networking, and leadership development. Our Hartford students stood out this year in Cleveland among the 300 participants, as a finalist in the case competition and pitch competition.
Project Ready
Project Ready is the Urban League's flagship youth development program, designed to prepare high school students for success in college, work, and life. Students gain hands-on learning in modules like STEAM, digital literacy, and financial capabilities, while also exploring college and career pathways through college fairs, leadership opportunities, community service, and the National Urban League’s Youth Leadership Summit. With mentorship, academic support, and real-world experiences, Project Ready empowers Hartford youth to lead with confidence and build brighter futures.
